Samantha Farquhar
Fisheries Researcher & Spatial Analyst
Samantha Farquhar focuses on coastal communities and marine management and planning, with particular expertise in marine spatial planning, fisheries management, and aquaculture. In addition to her work for Gomez-Hall Associates, Sam is currently a doctoral student at East Carolina University in the Integrated Coastal Sciences program. She holds a Master’s in Marine and Environmental Affairs from the University of Washington, where she completed her thesis in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), focusing on 'other effective conservation measures' or OECMs. Additionally, Sam was a Foreign Language and Areas Studies Fellow for Canadian Studies, studying narratives surrounding seal harvesting. Sam also earned a Fulbright Award to Madagascar to study protected area effectiveness and industrial fishing.
